Giovanni Ferrari Ph.D., Research Assistant Professor, graduated at the University of Pavia (Italy) with a Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology (2004).
Giovanni is a group leader, in charge of developing and advancing the program of translational research. He is the principal investigator of the Cardiovascular Blood and Tissue Database.
Dr Ferrari’s research interest encompasses cell biology, biomarkers discovery, and biomechanics of cardiovascular diseases. His current research projects include the study of valvular diseases (myxomatous mitral valve prolapse and aortic valve calcification), and thoracic aortic aneurysms.
Lab is supported by federal grant from the National Institutes of Health as well as from internal endowments

The scientific activity of Dr Ferrari's Cardiovascular Surgery Research Laboratory encompasses Cell Biology, Biomechanics and Biomarkers discovery. It is strictly linked to the clinical activity of the Cardiovascular Surgery Division. The Lab supports a broad range of basic and translational science research projects in order to improve diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
